T H I N G

The topic of exfoliation came up the other night and I thought to myself… hmm I see a new post coming to the surface. Human skin is made up of three layers. The outermost layer is the epidermis, which is bonded to a deeper layer called the dermis and then to the base level, the subcutis. New skin cells are formed in the dermis and then go on a 30 day migration to the surface of the skin.  Once they have reached the surface they become more acidic, are saturated with Keratin (which helps to protect the skin from outside elements) and then die. Exfoliation is the process of removing old and dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface. Are you ready to skip out into the world of a less old and less dead looking person?

Brown Sugar Scrub

1 cup Brown Sugar

2 Tbsp. Honey

Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Any High Grade Oil

1/2 tsp. Fresh Lemon Juice (Optional)

Pour the brown sugar in a bowl and then add the oil.  The sugar should be moist but not drenched.  Stir in your honey and some squeezes of lemon. And Boom! Just kidding. FYI -  The measurements are just a guide to be fiddled with.
