The Center for the Arts Eagle Rock is a nonprofit organization that offers exciting programs, classes/workshops, exhibitions, events and more to the community of Eagle Rock (my home sweet home) and the surrounding Northeast Los Angeles area. They also organize an annual free music festival with awesome LA bands like Dunes, Lucky Dragons, Sun Araw and so many others .
Current workshop offerings include Comic Book Making with Andrew Cox, Sparkle Place: Movement of the Future, and Write Now! Creative Writing for Growing Imaginations. These workshops are free to the public but have limited seating. Find out more HERE.
Also! Mark your calendars for their upcoming 9th annual art auction on Sunday, April 17 from 2 – 5 pm, with artwork donated by very many local artists (including me). All proceeds will benefit the Center. You can buy your ticket for the event HERE.
One last thing:
Community is the mental and spiritual condition of knowing that the place is shared, and that the people who share the place define and limit the possibilities of each other’s lives. It is the knowledge that people have of each other, their concern for each other, their trust in each other, the freedom with which they come and go among themselves. (Wendell Berry)

Comic book making with Andrew Cox sounds like the perfect workshop!

Of course, Laura! I’ve really been digging everything the Center has been doing. It makes me happy to live so close to it. See you at the auction!
