Tim is in Chicago and  has a blog, Lottie + Doof that features so many things that you will want to make and have (his photography is always an added enticement).  I have made quite a few of his recommended recipes, my favorite being the last one I made, GRAHAM CRACKERS.  Everyone who had some, wanted more and I am positive you will too.  I highly recommend exploring his site.  He is giving, intelligent and has great taste and style.

What are your current obsessions? The Vegetarian Option by Simon Hopkinson is a gorgeous cookbook that everyone should own, especially omnivores. (Speaking of omnivores?…) I am loving this season of True Blood, it is the perfect summer television series. I have been obsessively buying sweet corn at the market, sweet corn ice cream is up next. Vintage kitchen towels. Grey (the color). Glass bottles of Coca Cola. The cayenne peppers that we are trying to grow on our windowsill. I could go on and on, I am always obsessing over something.

What are some of the virtues you find in some of your role models? I recently reread Howards End by E.M. Forster, which was my favorite novel as a teenager, and found that his imperative remains mine, “Only Connect”. I like people who think, are sympathetic, and try to make and understand the connections in their lives. I like people who ask questions, who pay attention.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Being on vacation with my partner. Beautiful landscapes. Dinners with friends. The strawberry tart at La Palette. Sunsets in Los Angeles.
